The eastern Appalachia (Appalachian) fold belt, Canada, has a similar ocean-continent convergence environment as that of Cordillera fold belt located in the western Canada, a series of cases of porphyry Cu-Mo deposit, such as Coxheath porphyry Cu-Mo deposit, are distributed in this belt. However, the ore-forming age was relatively older (from pre-Cambrian to Devonian), and the porphyry planar alteration distribution is not completely, and no volcanics distributed around the porphyry mass on the surface, and the porphyry mineralization is obviously controlled by faults, the orebodies are located besides the intrusion or within the fault. Therefore, there is a big difference of the porphyry deposit characteristics between Appalachian fold belt porphyry deposits and Cordillera fold belt porphyry deposit, the main reason is resulted from the regional tectonic evolution, magma activity and other factors. |
