      Selwyn 盆地Howards Pass 铅锌矿床是世界上著名的巨型喷流沉积型(SEDEX)矿床之一,其矿石矿物主要为闪锌矿和方铅矿,呈层状产于下志留统路德河群黑色页岩中。Sm-Nd同位素、稀土元素组成特征表明,路德河群页岩可能为元古宙岩石,Earn群可能来自育空—塔那那地体;锶同位素组成特征反映成矿流体具海水锶和热液锶的混合的特征,以热液锶为主。金属硫化物铅同位素亦证实成矿流体有两种来源。基于该矿床的地质—地球化学特征,SEDEX矿床的形成有两种模式。

      Lead-zinc deposits in the Howards Pass district, Selwyn basin, are the world famous giant sedimentary exhalative(SEDEX)type deposit, with sphalerite and galena for their major ore minerals, whose orebodies,in the layered form, are hosted in sedimentary rocks. The composition of Sm-Nd isotopic and rare earth elements show that, Lutrer Creek group shale rock may be formed in the Proterozoic, Earn group may come from Yukon-Thane terrain. Strontium isotopic characteristics reflect the ore-forming fluids derived from seawater and hydrothermal fluid, and the latter is dominated. Lead isotope of sulfide also indicates that there are two sources of ore-forming fluid. There are two mineralization models for SEDEX-type deposits. 
