| The paper briefly introduces the experience of selecting prospective targets within old non-ferrous metals mines and metallogenic belts in Jiangxi illustrated by practical application examples of the prospecting achievement at depth of Hukeng mine, re- evaluation of prospected area at Xiaodongkeng deposit area, and the application of exploration model for the Jinshan type gold deposit. The prospecting procedures within the old mines follows the following steps:starting from compiling geologic exploration level in the mines, conducting three dimensional mapping of the mine, and predicting spatial distribution of ore-bearing geologic bodies, i.e., “prospecting the surrounding areas of the mine, the depth of geologic body, exploring the hiding orebodies, and conducting comprehensive assessment” and prospecting orebodies in the known old mines. For the exploration in the metallogenic belts, the dynamic follow-up of the regional exploration activities will be carried out to select the prospective districts, where the geophysical and geochemical anomalies occur, follow the ore-controlling and ore-bearing geologic bodies and indicated mineralization information in the targeted areas. Meanwhile, conduct the re-evaluation of old prospecting areas based on the new clues and exploration models in order to achieve the quick exploration achievement. |
