During the period of from 2010 to 2013, the oversea risk exploration project has been conducted in the western margin of the African rift. Two new and large-scale ilmenite deposits were discovered at Angonia area in Mozambique. In Patesa prospect, 13 titanium orebodies were outlined. The orebody is 300~1500 meter long and 0.3~3.18 meter thick. By trenching and test drilling check, the orebody is stable along the strike and dipping directions. The TiO2 content ranges from 42.62% to 61.27%, the estimated titanium ore tonnage resource (333 + 334) is 3.2403 million ton. This article mainly introduces the discovery process of the ilmenite type titanium ore deposit and discusses the prospecting potential in Mozambique, which provides the useful information for exploration in Mozambique. |
